The main feature of the event is a parade by cyclists from Sanam Luang Park to Silom Road. Organisers say 20,000 cyclists are set to congregate at Sanam Luang before the 08:00 start of the parade on Sunday.
The parade will follow a route that takes in Ratchadamnoen Avenue and Ratchadamri Road. The Bangkok Traffic Police Division says roads on the route will be closed on Sunday. The sector of Silom close to the Sala Daeng Intersection is the focal point of Sunday’s festivities and will be closed from 10:00 on Saturday right through to 06:00 on Monday morning.
Sala Daeng is one of the busiest traffic interchanges in a city that seems almost gridlocked for much of the working week. Many Bangkok residents descend on Sala Daeng for Car Free Day just for the sheer novelty of seeing it without vehicles.

Senior police officers have released a statement saying that one of the main roads in Bangkok will be closed for most of this weekend. The closure is to mark the city’s annual Car Free Day and the Bangkok Metropolitan Authority has urged Bangkokians and tourists alike to use public transport over the weekend.
