Tourist Arrivals in Philippines Continued to Grow in September

The steady trend of growth of foreign tourists arrivals in the Philippines persisted in September 2018. Compared to September 2017, the country welcomed 6.76% of overseas visitors more.

In September, over 500,000 foreigners entered the Philippines thus bringing the total number of inbound tourists who visited the Philippines during the first 9 months of 2018 to almost five million people.

The main source market for the Philippines in 2018 is South Koreal with 1.18 mln Koreans having vacationed on the islands of the archipelago. They are closely followed by the Chinese with 970,000 visitors. The Americans from the United States are also among the top three nations supplying tourists to the Philippines with 775,000 visitors.

Top-10 source markets for the Philippines in terms of tourists in January–September 2018 are: South Korea, China, US, Taiwan, Canada, United Kingdom, Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, and India. Taiwan showed the highest rate of growth of 29% in September what looks amazing as in June this year a special report named the Philippines the most hated country for the Taiwanese.

With the opening of Boracay on October, 26, the Philippine tourist authorities are confident the number of foreign tourists arrivals will jump in the last three months of 2018.
