In fact, there are two rankings. China tops the 'Power' ranking which deals with absolute figures of tourism and travel industry growth in the respective countries during the last seven years. Basically these countries gear travel and tourism growth and serve important source for tourist industries of other countries. The 5 leaders of this ranking are China, the USA, India, Mexico and the United Kingdom.
The second rating shows respective countries performance and deals with the relative figures, i.e. percentage growth of tourism and travel industry within the country during the last seven years. Thus the countries topping this ranking managed to get the most of tourism to drive economic development. And the 'Performance' top-5 looks totally different: Myanmar, Iraq, Georgia, Rwanda, Iceland.
In the frame of the research, 185 countries worldwide have been surveyed with four major growth markers analysed including contribution of travel and tourism to GDP, international visitor spend, domestic tourism spend and capital investment in tourism.
