Ubon Ratchathani Lotus Lake In Full Bloom

The picturesque lotus lake in Tha Lad sub-district, Ubon Ratchthani, Thailand, is in full bloom. If you are anywhere in the area, do not miss out the beautiful sight which is responsible for the name of the city.

In Thai, Ubon Ratchathani means the 'royal lotus city'. Lotus flower is also featured on the provincial seal.

Bueng Bua Ban Tha Lad is a 2.5 hectar lake is a perfect natural getaway. From August to October the lake is covered with blooming pink lotus flowers making for a picturesque setting and great photo opp. There are food and souvenire stalls near the lake selling delectable lotus flower seeds snacks.

Ubon Ratchathani is located in the northeastern part of Thaialnd and together with Nakhon Ratchasima, Udon Thani and Khon Kaen is a part of the big four of Isan. It is in major part a off-the-beaten-track destination for the Western tourists though there are quite a few unique and worth seeing attractions in the province – starting with its Emerald Triangle of untouched rain forest to an impressive Sam Phan Bok canyon which features the biggest rock reef in the Mae Khong River.

Ubon Ratchathani is easily reached from Bangkok via a short one hour flight, a ten-hour bus ride or a slightly longer 12-hour train journey.
