Thai Junta changed the development strategy of Bangkok’s airports and suspended the expansion of Suvarnabhumi Airport, which beginning was scheduled for the nearest future.

Thai Junta changed the development strategy of Bangkok’s airports and suspended the expansion of Suvarnabhumi Airport, which beginning was scheduled for the nearest future. Primarily the military government plans to increase the capacity of Don Mueang Airport, the second airport of the country.

As expected, Don Mueang Airport will serve about 18 million travelers this year while according to the draft of its development, its capacity will be increased to 30 million people a year. Suvarnabhumi Airport's expansion is also necessary, because now, with a projected capacity of 45 million passengers it serves 51 million per year. Junta only intends to revise the financial side of the issue.
