Long An Province Invites Tourists to Explore Mekong Delta

The Long An Province in the southern part of Vietnam, is looking for the opportunities to develop the Mekong Delta into an attractive tourist destination, invites tourists to visit.

This year, Long An, one of the three provinces of the Mekong Delta – the other two being Tien Giang and Dong Thap – expects to welcome 1.4 million visitors, a 24% increase over the previous year's numbers. Out of over one million tourists in 2017 only 15.000 came from abroad, the rest being domestic visitors.

Yet Long An can be definitely considered one of the most underrated destinations in Vietnam. There are many historical-cultural sites in Long An, Lang Sen Wetland Reserve and the Tan Lap floating tourism village to name a few. There are also other conservation areas, melaleuca forests and medicinal forests which form a great base for developing ecotourism projects. While tourist infrastructe may be partially lacking, it is indeed a challenge for some foreign tourists but a definite advantage for the other who are looking for the roads less travelled and relatively unexplored by the Western visitors, the destinations which still retain their original flavour and authenticity and provide a chance to get glipmses of real local life.

Recently, Long AnTien Giang and Dong Thap provinces have started to offer visitors from Ho Chi Minh City a new tour called Mot Hanh Trinh Ba Diem Den (A Journey to Three Destinations) which allows tourists to get acquainted with the local culture of the three provinces and visit the most interesting attractions.
