Direct flights to the Haj pilgrimage to be served from one airport in Thailand

According to the secretary-general of the Southern Border Provinces Administrative Centre (SBPAC), Thai Muslims will be able to visit annual Haj pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia this year, but the direct charter flight will be available from one province only.

According to the secretary-general of the Southern Border Provinces Administrative Centre (SBPAC), Thai Muslims will be able to visit annual Haj pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia this year, but the direct charter flight will be available from one province only. It’s Hat Yai province, whose airport will serve 10 direct flights to the Jeddah Airport by national Thai carrier Thai Airways International

Such a restriction was created because of an insufficient number of pilgrims to go to Mecca this year. Thailand has a quota of 10,400 people to visit the Haj in 2014 year, but only 8,000  from five  border provinces in the deep south (Pattani, Yala, Narathiwat, Satun and Songkhla) are ready to attend Haj pilgrimage.
