Ticket prices have been already announced to the public in the beginning of August. A standard full day pass will cost RMB330, an equivalent to USD50. During peak months of July and August there will be a special 'high season' price of RMB399. It is estimated that during the first year of operation the park will receive 3.2 million visitors with the number increasing to 5-6 million in the following years.
The Haichang Ocean Park Holdings already operate 8 similar ocean parks in the Mainland China but claim that the park in Shanghai will be the largest one with 300.000 square metres divided into five theme interactive zones with different marine animals in each; three animal theatres with dolphins, killer whales and sea lions performing; two high-tech cinemas; and a unique 360-degree pinguin bowl allowing visitors to observe the life of these creatures. There will be 6 pavillions, a roller coaster, the world's longest spinning rapids ride and an ocean-themed resort hotel.
The grand opening should take place on September, 28 with soft opening planned for the end of August.
