Asian Games 2018 Start Tomorrow, August 18

A great pan-Asian multi-sport event, the 18th Asian Games start tomorrow, August 18th and will last two weeks till September, 2nd. This time the games are hosted in two Indonesian cities, Jakarta, Java and Palembang, Sumatra.

The games were first held in 1951 and then went on every four years since 1954. This year, there will be athlets from 17 Asian countries competing in 40 different kinds of sport. 

It is the second time Indonesia hosts the games and the same facility constructed for the Asian Games-1962 in Jakarta but totally refurbished will be used for Opening and Closing ceremonies. To beat the traffic congestion in Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia is so notorious for, a rule will be enforced allowing circulation of odd numbers plated cars on odd days and even numbers plated car – on even days only. 

There are totally 50 venues around Indonesia where competitions and training sessions will take place. All of them are organized into four clusters: Cluster 1 is at the Senayan complex, Jakarta; Cluster 2 has several courses and locations around Jakarta with the main one being JIEXPO Kemayoran; Cluster 3 includes the neighbouring provinces of Banten and West Java; and finally there is Cluster 4 which is Palembang with the main venue of the Jakabaring Sport Complex.
