Taipei Invites Runners to Half Marathon in October

The first half marathon event hosted by Taipei-based international airline Eva Air is planned for October, 28th. It is expected that up to 20,000 runners will participate in the run.

The Chinese Taipei Culture, Leisure & Sport Association, Taiwan Tourism Bureau, Taipei City Government Department of Information and Tourism, and Chinese Taipei Road Running Association have joined hands to bring the running event to the city.

There will be three types of races on offer: the half marathon, the quarter marathon and the three kilometre race. The route will allow the runners to enjoy the best attractions of the Taiwanese capital like the National Theatre and the Taipei Fine Arts Museum and the beautiful scenery along the Keelung River. The run will start at 5.30 am on Ketagalan Boulevard near to the Jing Fu Gate. All the participants who will make it up to the finish line will get an electronic certificate confirming their achievement and a medal.

The objective of the event is to attract more visitors to the city as well as promote sports and healthy way of life. Eva Air has been regularly seen among the hosts or sponsors of a variety of sporting events including golf competitions, tennis and badmington tournaments and most recently – West Ham United Football Club.
