AirAsia's Direct Bangkok–Kota Kinabalu Flight Coming Soon

Starting from August, 16 this year AirAsia will add to their expansive regional flight network a direct Bangkok, Thailand – Kota Kinabalu, Malaysian Borneo flight.

Flights will be operated by Thai AirAsia from their Bangkok hub – Don Mueang airport. There will be three flights a week on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

A three hour 5 minute FD470 flight will depart Don Mueang in the morning at 9.30am and arrive to Kota Kinabalu at 1.35pm. The return FD471 flight is scheduled to leave Kota Kinabalu at 3pm and land at Don Mueang in Bangkok at 5.05pm. Promotional airfare still available for September and onwards starts from THB1900 for Malaysia-bound flights and from THB1200 – for return flights.
On the days when there are no direct flights between the two destinations, it is possible to hop onto connecting flights from Bangkok to Kuala Lumpur and from Kuala Lumpur to Kota Kinabalu though they are likely to set you back double compared to the direct option.

Kota Kinabalu, the capital of Sabah, a state located in the northern part of Western Borneo, is the main gateway to the island of Borneo and one of the most popular national parks in Malaysia, Kinabalu National Park featuring the 4095m high Mount Kinabalu. A fast growing tourist destination, Kota Kinabalu offers visitors abundant scuba diving and snorkeling opportunities, deep water fishing, great trekking routes, white water rafting and sea kayaking.
