Nakhon Phanom, Thailand to Host Mekong Tourist Forum 2018

Nakhon Phanom, a province in the northeastern Thailand, was chosen to host the Mekong Tourist Forum 2018 during June 25–29.

It is an annual meeting of the countries from the Greater Mekong Subregion. This year the event will be attended by the representatives of Cambodia, China, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam.
This year the forum is held under the theme 'Transforming Travel – Transforming Life'. Both the professionals engaged into tourism industry and individual visitors are invited to participate in the activities within the event which will include an opportunity to get acquainted with tourist attractions in the region, visit emerging destinations and learn about recent travel trend.

During the meeting Thailand will be promoting Buddhist tourism in the Mekong region and will also seek support from the other members for creation of a so-called ASEAN-South Asia Buddhist Tourism Story Book which will be a kind of a guidebook for tourists interested in visiting destinations in the Mekong region rich in Buddhist culture.

Another intriguing event – the Mekong Mini Movie Festival – will be held for the first time in the framework of the forum. The organizers want to encourage movie producers to shoot more films with the destinations of the Mekong region as a background what will finally attract more visitors to the area.
