As The State Railway of Thailand’s Governor Prapat Chongsanguan reported, extensive repairs will be carried out on its southern part. It will take about three years and might become the most expensive and massive railway project in a hundred years.

The renovation of the southern Thai railway will cost around 6 billion baht and will be started in May this year. To minimize damage to travelers, repairs will be carried out not at all locations simultaneously. It will begin at Hua Hin Railway Station and will end at Sungai Kolok Railway Station. Renovation includes repair of stations, the switching of wooden railway sleepers and soil re-enforcement.
