Gaggan Anand’s Indian cuisine eatery got the voices of more than 300 leaders of Asia’s restaurant industry. The owner said he started his business 22 years ago and his dream came true thanks to the inspiration from Steve Jobs. They change 80 percent of the menu every four months. He admitted being ready to cede a palm to younger rivals.
The second and third on the list are Tokyo’s Den and Florilege. Bangkok’s restaurants Suhring and Nahm are the fourth and tenth. The French restaurant Odette in Singapore comes fifth. Tokyo’s Narisawa and Nihonryori are the sixth and ninth, while Hong Kong’s Amber is the seventh and Shanghai’s Ultraviolet by Paul Pairet is the eighth. The majority of other places are taken by Hong Kong’s,Tokyo’s, Osaka’s and Bangkok’s restaurants. The are also Seoul’s Mingles (No11) and Toc Toc (No 42, which is a new participant), Taipei’s Raw (No 15), Mume (No 18) and Shoun Ryugin (No 47 – new) and others. Singapore’s Whitegrass closes the list.
