F1 Grand Prix racing could be heading for the streets of Hanoi

According to media sources in London, the capital city of Vietnam will probably be added to the calendar of Grand Prix Formula 1 racing. An unnamed person close to the negotiations told journalists the F1 Promoters Association had agreed in principle to the addition of Vietnam but still needed to iron out the details.

Due to the fact Vietnam has no international F1 motor racing track, a street race around Hanoi has been touted as the best solution. This would be similar to the street circuits set up in Monaco and Singapore every year. A formal announcement on Hanoi’s inclusion on the F1 calendar is expected over the next week or so.

Vietnam has long pushed to be added to the F1 global circuit but former boss Bernie Ecclestone consistently blocked the move. Motor racing analysts say the time is maybe ripe for Vietnam to be added especially in light of the fact Malaysia pulled the plug on its Grand Prix last October.

12GO ASIA notes that the streets of Hanoi would be an exciting addition to F1 racing. Even without racing, the Vietnamese capital is a highlight of any Southeast Asian tour and attracts with peerless historical sights, museums, tasty food and nightlife for all predilections.
