Yangon Water Bus operator adds more vessels

The company which runs the fledgling Yangon Water Bus service is in the process of adding new vessels to its fleet.  A Tint Tint Myanmar Company told media sources in the Myanmar city another five vessels would be added during the course of December.

The river ferry service launched a little over two months ago. The ferries run on a Yangon River route south from Insein to Bohtataung and were introduced in an attempt to ease congestion on the city’s traffic clogged streets.

Including the two end stations, Yangon Water Buses call at eight piers. Two of these are at Lattha and Shwe Padauk. At the southern end of the line, Bohtataung is conveniently situated for access to Bohtataung Pagoda, Sule Pagoda and Vandoola Park.

12GO ASIA says the water buses run throughout the day with the first departure from Bohtataung at 07:00 and the first from Insein half an hour later. Services terminate at 18:00.

Tint Tint Myanmar says the times of the ferries are scheduled so that passengers never have to wait more than 20 minutes for one. One-way fares for the water buses are MMK300.
