High waves force cancellation of Pattaya Hua Hin ferries

The operator of ferries linking Pattaya and Hua Hin has suspended services until Sunday. A statement posted on Facebook by the Royal Passenger Liner Company said expected waves of up to four metres high were expected to make sea trips across the north part of the Gulf of Thailand extremely dangerous.

The company posted up the notification on Tuesday and the first ferry cancellations were effective yesterday. The alert blamed the inclement weather and sea conditions on the northeastern monsoon and high pressure sweeping in from China and Vietnam.

Royal Passenger apologised for the inconvenience caused and asked customers to contact representatives at its Pattaya or Hua Hin offices for more information. In Pattaya, the office is at Bali Hai Port while in Hua Hin there is one at Khao Takiab Pier.

12GO ASIA’s help desk says Bell Travel’s Pattaya-Hua Hin bus service is a viable alternative to the ferry. One direct bus a day in each direction departs at 11:00 and arrives at its destination at 16:30. Direct buses are a much better choice when compared to the time-consuming option of transiting in Bangkok.
