Songkhla Province inaugurates Bang Klam weekend market

The governor of Songkhla oversaw ceremonies on Saturday which launched the province’s newest tourism attraction. Bang Klam weekend market now opens every Friday and Saturday and is a thriving spot to buy and taste the full repertoire of Thailand’s handicraft products and diverse culinary offerings.

Governor Songpol Sawasdham listened as VIP guests explained that the market on the banks of the Bang Klam Canal would act as an outlet for local products. These include the likes of the desiccated version of the local jackfruit and handmade phathor-koh-yo cloth.

Bang Klam is also close enough to Songkhla Lake and Laem Samila Beach so that visitors can make a day out of their excursions. Wat Khok Piew is one of several charming temples on the lake’s Koh Yo Island while a selfie with the mermaid statue at Laem Samila Beach is a must have souvenir from Songkhla

12GO ASIA notes that Bang Klam Railway Station is a stop for local trains travelling between Nakhon Si Thammarat and Hat Yai. We offer multiple choices for travel to both Nakhon Si Thammarat and Hat Yai. The latter is home to one of the busiest airports in southern Thailand.
