Vietjet prepares for launch of new Hanoi to Myanmar flights

Vietjet has confirmed a new route connecting Hanoi to the Myanmar city of Yangon will take off tomorrow. News of the route was unveiled at a meeting of Vietnamese dignitaries and Myanmar Tourism Minister Ohn Maung.

Daily flights will take off from Hanoi Noibai Airport at 12:05 and land at Yangon International at 13:30. Return flights are scheduled to leave at 14:30 and touch down in Hanoi again at 16:55.

There is a 30-minute time difference between Myanmar and Vietnam. The actual flight duration in each direction is 1 hour 55 minutes. Vietjet is a Vietnamese low cost airline and already flies to Yangon from its southern base at Ho Chi Minh City’s Tan Son Nhat Airport.

The new route will enable Vietjet to better compete with Vietnam Airlines. The national airline flies from both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh to Yangon. 12GO ASIA explains that competition on the same routes is always healthy as it keeps fares low for passengers.
