Pattaya elephant garden marks latest birth with unique celebrations

Nong Nooch Garden welcomed the latest addition to its mushrooming elephant herd last week with a unique party and religious blessings. The celebrations on Friday marked the birth of Phang Sophee the day before. The abbot of Samakkee Banphot Temple was on hand for the christening of the new arrival.

Phang Sophee was the eighth calf born at the popular elephant camp and botanical gardens in the last six months. The latest birth brought the total number of elephants here up to 80. Mahouts at the camp say four more elephants are pregnant.

At Nong Nooch’s party, the calf elephants were presented while some of the adult elephants took part in a parade to mark the auspicious occasion. 12GO ASIA says this 700 acre park and gardens is one of Pattaya’s most visited tourist attractions and is just 20kms from Beach Road.

Pattaya boasts a collection of tourism attractions other seaside towns can only dream of. Nong Nooch and a lovely beach together with everything from exciting nightlife to world-class theme parks and diverse activities ensure Pattaya will be a jewel in Thailand’s tourist for many years to come.
