New Don Mueang Airport bus routes attract huge numbers of passengers

The Bangkok Mass Transit Authority says two new bus routes from the city’s Don Mueang Airport have proved a hit with passengers. BMTA director Chitchai Phuaree said Don Mueang routes A3 and A4 had each attracted more than 2,000 passengers a day in their first five days of operation.

He carried on by saying the bumper numbers of riders had collectively paid way over THB200,000 for the convenience of the routes over the five-day period. Route A3 links Don Mueang to Lumpini Park and the Pathum Wan area while A4 goes to Sanam Luang. The latter is a stone’s throw from backpacker central at Khao San Road and Banglamphu.

The two additional routes complement two pre-existing ones, A1 and A2. These link to Chatuchak and Victory Monument. Mr Phuaree said the instant success of the new routes had encouraged BMTA planners to investigate whether more routes would increase travel solutions and generate more income for the authority’s coffers.

The four Don Mueang bus routes are all part of the One Transport initiative launched by the Thai Transport Ministry to provide affordable and useful options for commuters and tourists. 12GO ASIA Don Mueang is Bangkok and Thailand’s second airport and a hub for budget carriers including preferred partners Thai AirAsia and Nok Air.
