Irish ambassador to launch 2017 Pattaya St Patrick’s Day parade

Ireland’s ambassador in Thailand will launch the 2017 edition of the St Patrick’s Day parade in Pattaya on Friday. The start point for the parade is the Alcazar Theatre and the entertainment kicks off at 15:00.

Ambassador Brendan Rogers is scheduled to give a short speech 45 minutes later before the parade sets off at 16:00. Pattaya authorities say the retinue will feature the usual floats provided by the likes of the Royal Cliff Hotel and all are welcome to join the green parade as it makes its way around the central area of the seaside resort.

The parade follows a circular route along Second Road, down Pattaya Soi 4, along Beach Road and back to the Alcazar. As has been the case with every Pattaya St Patrick’s Day parade since its inauguration eight years ago, the 2017 version will be raising funds to help the disadvantaged children under the care of the Father Ray Foundation.

Pattaya is one of a collection of seaside resorts and islands Thailand is noted for. With journey times of a little over two hours, Pattaya is the closest to Bangkok. 12GO ASIA offers reservations services for taxis, passengers vans and buses on this route.
