Zither maestro Tri Nguyen to play Ho Chi Minh City gig this evening

An award-winning musical maestro is set to perform at the French Cultural Exchange Institute in Ho Chi Minh City this evening. Zither master and pianist Tri Nguyen will be on stage at 20:00 at the institute and will give renditions of some of his best known pieces for music fans.

A sneak preview of the set list shows numbers from his just released third album as well as the debut Consonnances. Beyond Borders is the latest release and is an enchanting fusion of folk and traditional music from both Vietnam and Europe. The ensemble features Vietnamese dan tranh zither players and a European-style string quartet.

Born in Vietnam, Tri Nguyen went to Paris as a student and completed his studies at the Ecole Normale de Musicque. During an illustrious career, the musical maestro has played at top venues in Europe and the US.
