Rough Guides ranks Ha Long Bay in top ten Asian destinations

UK travel specialist Rough Guides has named Vietnam’s beautiful Halong Bay as one of the Top 10 attractions in Asia.  Halong is known by locals as the Bay of the Descending Dragon. It was accorded UNESCO World Heritage status in 1994 under the genre of location of exceptional beauty.

The limestone karsts erupting from the calm and translucent waters of the locality resemble the dragon’s teeth the bay is named for. In its awards, Rough Guides noted that the legend a dragon had ejected gems from its mouth to build the karst defensive wall was entirely in keeping with the magic of Halong.

Halong is located on the west side of the Gulf of Tonkin and is around 170kms by road from Hanoi. A trip to Halong is one of the highlights of a Vietnamese travel odyssey. A cruise aboard an antique junk or even a canoe trip allows tourists to get unequalled views of the crags, islands, caves, virgin forest and heritage villages of this enchanting archipelago.

People looking for convenience when travelling between Hanoi and Halong will find 12GO ASIA a good choice. Our agent on the ground here is DTW Charter. DTW offers transportation to Halong by means of luxury seven and nine seater minivans.
