Nyaungshwe town to establish Inle Lake tourist centre and night market

Myanmar’s Hotels and Tourism Ministry is all set to launch a tourist centre and night market in Nyaungshwe Township. Announcing the establishment of the facility, the chairperson of the national Restaurant Owners Association explained it would feature souvenir and handicraft booths, premium eateries and family-friendly amenities.

Myo Min Zaw continued by saying the market should be ready to welcome its first patrons in the New Year. The estimated cost to build and fit it out is MMK200 million (THB5.5 million).

The chairman said there would be more than 20 outlets selling Shan and Myanmar themed articles, local delicacies and traditional handicrafts. The market will also feature artisans’ workshops so that tourists are able to get an idea of the processes involved in creating the handicrafts.

An assortment of 20 eateries will provide diners with a choice of the flavours  of Myanmar as well as a select menu of international favourites. The plan is to also build a swimming pool and install a kiddies’ playground at the market.

Nyaungshwe is close to the north shore of Inle Lake and is around 230kms from Naypyitaw and 250kms from Mandalay. 12GO ASIA is in the process of expanding travel ticketing options for Myanmar and hopes to add Naypyitaw and Mandalay connections to Nyaungshwe to the portfolio soon.
