Accessing the historical draws of Melaka with 12GO ASIA

One of Malaysia’s oldest heritage cities, Melaka provides visitors with a diverse collection of sights and experiences to enjoy. Melaka, or Malacca as it is often spelt, straddles the mouth of the Melaka River at the point it flows into the Melaka Strait.

Quite a few of Melaka’s premium tourist attractions are within walking distance of the waterfront. Red Square and its iconic red hued Christ Church, City Hall and clocktower are on the right bank of the river. A bridge leads across to Hang Jebat Street and the famous Jonker Walk weekend market plus the likes of Cheng Hoon Teng Temple and the Baba Nyonya Museum.

The family-friendly A Famosa amusement park, the ruins of the early 16th century St Paul's Church and the People's Museum are back on the other side of the river. The Melaka Straits Mosque is a modern construction and otherworldly sight located on an offshore island.

Although Melaka has an airport, it only has limited flight arrivals and these are mainly from Pekanbaru. Melaka is not on KTM Malaysian Railways’ network which leaves buses as the only viable option to get here. 12GO ASIA offers bus ticket reservations services from Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and Penang to Melaka.
