Free guided tours of Hanoi Hoan Kiem Old Quarter launched

City tourism authorities in Hanoi have added Old City walking tours to their travel collection. The tours are free of charge and are being provided jointly by the recently opened tourist information centre in the historic Hoan Kiem District and tour company Vietnamtourism Hanoi.

The pedestrian tours run during the day between Wednesday and Sunday unless there is a public holiday. They depart from the tourism bureau office at 28 Hang Dau Street and terminate at Ba Kieu Temple. This temple is a short walk from the north shore of Hoan Kiem Lake and the iconic red Huc Bridge to Jade Island.

The walking tours take participants on an odyssey of Hoan Kiem Old City’s original 36 streets which were laid out during the French colonial era. Each one was lined with artisans’ shops and many of today’s shops still sell items such as Hang Quat paper fans and Hang Dao ao dai dresses.

The tours are led by English-speaking guides and take approximately 90 minutes from start to finish. Hoan Kiem is the epicentre of Hanoi’s exciting portfolio of attractions. People travelling to or from Hanoi from other locations in Southeast Asia will find 12GO ASIA offers maximum convenience when buying tickets.
