The upgrade of Trang Airport is not approved

The Authority of Trang Airport in the south of Thailand plans to extend the length of the runway from 2,100 to 3,000 metres and to increase the passenger terminal in order to double the capacity,  but it still doesn’t have the consent of the government.

For several years the Authority of Trang Airport in the south of Thailand has tried to get government funding for its expansion. According to Trang Airport’s Director, Thavorn Saengamphai, it has a favorable location and its expansion will also promote the development of neighboring provinces such as Krabi, Phattalung, Satun and Nakhon Si Thammarat.

The Authority plans to extend the length of the runway from 2,100 to 3,000 metres and to increase the passenger terminal in order to double the Airport’s capacity. The project’s budget is 80 million baht for construction works and 10 million baht for a feasibility study. At this moment the Airport satisfies all requirements for investment, but it still doesn’t have the consent of the government.
