The resultant runoff turned narrow sois into mini-streams with water up to 30 centimetres deep in places. Authorities in Bangkok reported flooding in locations including underpasses on Kamphaeng Phet Road, Bang Khen, Lat Phrao and Chaengwattana.
Flooding caused traffic jams as some roads were simply impassable. One Facebook user in Lat Phrao claimed he was stuck in a queue of traffic and his wife had walked to the car to bring him dinner. He said they even had time to enjoy the meal before the traffic started moving again.
Although the floodwaters have cleared somewhat, 12GO ASIA advises travellers with confirmed tickets for buses, trains and aeroplanes leaving Bangkok to allow plenty of time to reach their departure stations. The forecast is more rain today and intermittent rain for the rest of the week.
