Access the eclectic delights of Vientiane with 12GO ASIA

The Lao capital city of Vientiane offers a varied selection of attractions and enticements to visit. Key attractions include the Patuxai Victory Arch, Pha That Luang Pagoda and the Lao National Museum. A walk along city streets takes visitors past colonial edifices and chateaus which could have been uprooted from French provincial towns and plonked down in downtown Vientiane.

Talat Sao Morning Market is a vibrant location packed with stalls selling everything from antique watches and opium pipes to high quality silks and Russian winter hats. Dining is another delight in Vientiane. Menu items include spicy papaya salad, French-style baguette sandwiches, chateaubriand steaks and Indian curries.

Although not Pattaya or Patpong in Bangkok, Vientiane has enough nightlife options to cater to most tastes. Plenty of cafés and Mekong riverside establishments serve up budget-friendly Beer Lao, Lao coffee and imported wines. Don Chan Palace and the Samlo Pub are among late night venues popular with night owls.

12GO ASIA offers a full range of travel options which provide convenience for accessing the draws of Vientiane. Our partners include Bangkok Air, Thai AirAsia, the State Railway of Thailand and Budsarakham Bus Tour. This gives the choice of flying directly from Bangkok to Vientiane or taking the bus or train to Nong Khai and then crossing the Mekong River to Laos via the Friendship Bridge I.
