Hua Hin announces date for fun runs and half marathon

Authorities in the Thai seaside town of Hua Hin have confirmed the date for a series of fun runs. The runs will take place on Sunday 9 October and will herald the start of the traditional peak holiday season for the Gulf of Thailand resort.

One of the event’s major sponsors, Proudputh Liptapanlop, explained that entrants had a choice of entering three different categories. These are a 21km half-marathon, a 10.5km mini-marathon and a 5km fun run.

Ms Liptapanlop carried on by saying all three runs were open to all. Runners will need to register on the day at the resort’s True Arena at 04:00. Half-marathon runners will set off at 05:00 while those in the other two categories will set off one hour later. Entry is free.

There is no time limit on registration for the 5km fun run, but the deadline for those entering the other two categories is the 23 September. Registration is via the runforhuahin webpage. The run routes take in Rajabhakti Park, the Night Market, Chatchai Market and the Clock Tower.

Hua Hin police officers will be on hand to direct traffic and ensure the milestone event goes off without a hitch. 12GO ASIA says runners and spectators heading to Hua Hin will find its online travel ticketing service is the most convenient.
