The debut Lanna-style dances are scheduled for Friday 5 August at 19:00. Two additional performances will take place on the following day with show times beginning at 14:00 and 19:00. The performances come with the title of Divine Dance and Music.
Famed Thai dancer and show choreographer Ronnarong Khampha explained that historic Lanna performing arts was almost extinct but had undergone something of a renaissance as neo-Lanna over the past three decades. Neo-Lanna is a pleasing fusion of traditional northern Thai dances reworked so they are relevant for contemporary audiences.
Entry tickets for Divine Dance and Music shows have been priced at THB300 for adults and THB100 for students. All ticket revenue will be donated to the Fine Arts Faculty for use in maintaining the traditions of Thai performing arts.
