Pattaya set to add cycleway link to Buddha Mountain

The local branch of the Thai national tourism office in Pattaya has announced plans to mark out a cycleway to Buddha Mountain. The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) says the route will add another facet to the resort town’s unique travel experiences.

The cycle path will be another enticement for eco tourists to visit and is further evidence Pattaya is determined to try and lose its reputation as party town extraordinaire. TAT director for Pattaya, Suladda Sarutilavan, noted that the cycle route and other eco-incentives were aimed at making the eastern seaboard town more family-friendly.

Buddha Mountain, or Khao Chi Chan as it is known to Thais, and the verdant hills in the locale were designated as perfect for eco-tourism by the Sustainable Tourism Board earlier this year. The mountain is a little over 20kms from downtown Pattaya and Beach Road. Other key draws close by are Nong Nooch Botanical Gardens and the Cartoon Network Amazone theme park.

At a little over 140kms, the trip from Bangkok to Pattaya takes around two hours. 12GO ASIA offers bespoke trips between the two with the options of bus, mini-bus or taxi ensuring there is something to suit all budgets.
