Bangkok ranks fifth on TripIndex report for best value city holidays

Bangkok came fifth in the TripIndex 2016 ratings for the best value cities for a holiday. Market research analysts at TNS compiled the 2016 listings for TripAdvisor and based their findings on the costs of a typical three-night stay in popular vacation cities around the world.

The analysts factored in the price of upmarket four-star accommodation, lunch and dinner, taxi fares and visits to the three top tourism attractions in each city. The figures for Bangkok show that median nightly rates for a hotel are US$85. For lunch, the cost is US$32, dinner is USS81 and a three-kilometre taxi journey is US$3. The total price for the three-night trip works out to US$645.

Although the cost of a short Bangkok holiday is far cheaper than New York City’s US&1,826, Hanoi wins hands down in the value for money stakes.  A three-night stay in a luxury hotel in the Vietnamese capital with all the trimmings comes to a budget-friendly US$497.
