Global artistes prepare to provide Bangkok with a cultural buffet

Bangkok’s Thailand Cultural Centre recently released the schedule for its 2016 music and dance extravaganza. The eclectic programme is guaranteed to thrill and includes performances by a top Russian ballet company, jazz bands, Chinese acrobats and flamenco dancers.

The 18th edition of the Bangkok International Festival of Dance and Music kicks off on 8 September with Swan Lake. The Moscow Stanislavsky Ballet troupe is flying in 90 dancers who will render Tchaikovsky’s timeless classic for Bangkok audiences.

The Stanislavsky Ballet company will be in residence for two nights. These two performances are the first of 21 evenings of high-adrenalin entertainment which will culminate with a grand finale staged by New York’s Paul Taylor Dance Company on Wednesday 19 October.

Ticket prices for the different shows vary and start at THB600. Advance tickets are available from ThaiTicketMajor. The Thailand Cultural Centre is in the Huai Khwang District of Bangkok and about 10 minutes on foot from Thailand Cultural Centre MRT Subway Station. Courtesy shuttle buses run prior to performance start times.
