When completed, the missing link will connect the current northern terminus station of the Blue Line subway with the terminus of the soon-to-open Purple Line at Tao Poon Station. The Purple Line officially comes into service next month.
MRTA governor Peerayuth Singpattanakul said last week that travellers will have to take buses between Bang Sue and Tao Poon until the link is ready for service. He noted that buses will run between the two stations from 06:00 to 24:00, but would not operate to a fixed timetable and would depart once they were full.
The governor carried on by saying that the proposal for the rail link needed to be approved by the Thai government first and then it would take about 10 months more to build. The current southern terminus of the Blue Line is Hua Lamphong Station.
This MRT station serves Bangkok and Thailand’s main railway station, Hua Lamphong SRT Station. The SRT (State Railway of Thailand) is the country’s national rail operator and 12GO ASIA offers a handy pre-booking service for travel on its key routes.
