Thai foreign-minister Don Pramudwinai met his Cambodian counterpart, Prak Sokhon, last week. At the meeting, they agreed to improve four minor checkpoints so they conformed to international standards.
The Cambodian Foreign Ministry later released a statement saying the four crossings were at Chub Kokei, Phnom Dei, An Ses and Thmor Da. The agreement will also see checkpoints installed at Nong Earn and O Neng-Banbaray.
Trade between Thailand and Cambodia is currently valued at US$5 billion a year. This is primarily one–way as Thailand only imports US$600 million worth of goods from Cambodia. The two foreign-ministers say that with more border crossings, plus the soon-to-open Phnom Penh to Bangkok rail link, trade could increase to US$15 billion in five years.
