If the project comes to fruition, ferries will ply a route from a wharf outside Bangkok’s main train terminus and terminate at the jetty near Thewes Market. The approximately five-kilometre-long route will traverse the Phra Nakhon, Promprab Sattruphai and Dusit districts of the city.
The blueprint shows the boats will stop at 10 piers en route and these include the floating market at Klong Phadung Krungkasem. BMA deputy-governor Amorn Kijchawenkul said the ferries would provide convenience for commuters and tourists as they would link Chao Phraya River express ferry services and the underground train station at Hua Lamphong.
Deputy-governor Kijchawenkul continued by saying the estimated cost of launching the service was THB350 million. He finished off by saying that if the Interior Ministry endorsed the plan it would be up to another nine months before the first passengers would be able to take advantage of the service.
