Sammitr said one of the main features of Smart Drive enabled autos would be latent internet connectivity so that passengers could search for sightseeing hotspots, eateries and entertainment venues as they travelled. Other top-notch features include driver-drowsiness sensors and application and device interfaces.
Sumas Wongsunprat is the CEO of Sammitr. He told media sources the smart cars would initially be launched in Bangkok and likely before the end of 2016. He noted that there was a possibility in the future of being able to equip taxis, police cars and other public service vehicles with Smart Drive technology.
Once Sammitr Smart Drive cars hit the streets of Bangkok they will add another option to transport choices for tourists. Just two decades ago, the principal choices were the ubiquitous tuktuk and smoke-belching public buses. Bangkok now has modern urban trains which have cut average journey times by half.
