Malaysia Sarawak hotel prepares for annual Borneo jazz fest

Next month will see artistes take the stage for the 11th annual Borneo Jazz Festival in the Malaysian state of Sarawak. The event organisers have already released details of the line-up of performers who will play at the Parkcity Everly Hotel in Miri. The all-star cast will provide a real treat for fans of the music genre.

The two-day jazz extravaganza has four main groups of artistes on each evening. The days start off with marching bands at around midday and culminate in after-midnight jam sessions at the Parkcity Everly’s Ruai Bar.

The event is scheduled to take place on Friday 13 and Saturday 14 May 2016. The Manou Gallo Groove Orchestra will headline on the first night and are scheduled to play between 23:15 and 00:15. On the next night, the US’s Rad Trads top the bill at the same time.

Other international acts on the bill are Yuichiro Tokuda RALYZZDIG from Japan, O Sister! from Spain and the German Cuban ensemble, the Klazz Brothers & Cuba Percussion. The latter adapt works by the likes of Bach and Brahms to AfroCuban rhythms while O Sister! are noted for their Dixie and Swing numbers.

The festival poster was supplied by Sarawak Tourism Bureau.
