Bangkok urban trains offer free travel for kids on Saturday

Bangkok’s urban train operator has announced that children will be able to travel for free on national Children’s Day this coming Saturday. The offer is applicable on both BTS Skytrain and MRT underground line trains between 06:00 and 24:00.

Bangkok Mass Transit System operates the BTS Skytrain lines and its chief executive said certain conditions apply to the free travel offer. Surapong Laoha-Unya said it would be available to children under 140 centimetres in height and the voucher issued would only allow the holder to return to the same station as they boarded at.

He finished off by saying parents or other adults accompanying youngsters would be able to get the complimentary travel vouchers from station ticketing booths. Quite a few of the locations staging Children’s Day activities and events are located close to BTS and MRT stations.

Popular destinations for youngsters in Bangkok include Sea Life Ocean World, the newly reopened Bangkok Planetarium and the Children's Discovery Museum. The latter is near Mo Chit Station, Bangkok Planetarium is close to Ekkamai and Sea Life is in the Siam Paragon mall which is just down the road from Siam Station.
