Top players set for tee off at Thailand Golf Championship

A phalanx of the world’s top golfers are heading down to Thailand’s Chonburi Province for the start of tomorrow’s Thailand Golf Championship. The Lee Schmidt designed course at the Amata Spring Country Club is the venue for the fifth Thai championship.

2014 champion Lee Westwood will be teeing off with his peers in the hope of retaining the trophy. He will be joined by aspiring Thai golfer, and 2013 Asian number one player, Kiradech Aphibarnrat as well as the likes of Martin Kaymer, Sergio Garcia and Darren Clarke.

Kiradech Aphibarnrat, 26, is currently ranked number 41 in the world and says he is looking forward to playing on his home turf. He told reporters that he had been playing well lately and thought he had a good chance of lifting the title.

Kiradech has already won two European Tour events in 2015 and said he only needed to rest up a little before going to Chonburi. Thongchai Jaidee is among other Thai players competing against a field of golfers from 32 nations.

Amata Spring Country Club is about 70kms southeast of Bangkok. 12GO ASIA can arrange for chauffeur driven transport to the course from Bangkok.
