Malaysia Langkawi golf course the best in Asia 2015

At the recently concluded World Golf Awards, Langkawi Island’s Els Club Teluk Datai course scooped the best in Asia prize. The annual awards ceremony at the Conrad Algarve in Portugal saw the course take the prestigious Best Golf Course in Asia for 2015.

This year’s prize for the Ernie Els designed course comes hot on the heels of its triumph as the World’s Best New Golf Course in 2014. It was a win-win situation for Malaysia at the awards ceremonies as the country won the title of Best Golfing Destination in Asia 2015.

Mohamed Amin Yahya is the director of Tourism Malaysia. He was on hand at the Portugal ceremony to receive the country’s winner’s cup. He stated that Malaysia was delighted to have topped the best Asian golfing destination table for the second year running.

Teluk Datai mastermind Els was honoured with the award as the top Golf Course Designer for 2015. Home to around 200 premium courses, Malaysia has become a firm favourite with golfers. Courses can be found close to most cities, on tropical paradise islands and in mountain locations like the Cameron Highlands

The Els Club Teluk Datai is located close to the northwest shoreline of Langkawi. It provides golfing aficionados with the rare chance of playing verdant fairways amid ancient rainforest with the sparkling waters of the Andaman Sea as a backdrop.
