They noted that to be absolutely sure all the remaining oil had washed out to sea people should not go swimming until yesterday. Initial investigations into the source of the oil slicks indicated they had come from close to the mouth of the Mae Klong River in Samut Songkhram Province.
Marine and environmental officers also conducted water pollution assessment tests along the coast of Samut Songkhram and found no traces of oil. Marine officers say they are still trying to locate ships that had passed close to the shoreline prior to last Tuesday when the first oil washed up in Hua Hin.
High tides on Tuesday and Wednesday dumped more oil on the beach at Hua Hin. A 10km stretch of sands north of Khao Takiab Headland was affected. Officials and volunteers who took part in the cleanup operation reported feeling nauseous and burning or itchy skin.

The oil slick and garbage that washed up on Hua Hin beach last week has been cleaned off. Environmental officers in the Gulf of Thailand seaside resort inspected the beach on Friday and said there was no more oil on it.
