Annual Cha Am seafood festival underway

Last week saw the beginning of Cha-am’s annual seafood festival. The extravaganza is the 17th in the series and treats gourmands to delicacies concocted with the freshest produce of the sea and Thailand’s inimitable spices and cooking style. The festival runs through to Saturday 19 September.

The full repertoire of seafood species is on offer at the fair and includes lobsters, king prawns, crabs, squid and mussels. Live music and entertainment is staged every evening. This quality entertainment has proved popular with visitors during previous years.

Other unique draws of the Cha-am Seafood Festival are the opportunity of going night fishing for squid and guided bird-watching tours of Nang Phanthurat Forest Park. Cha-am’s town council has collaborated with restaurants and food vendors plus the Tourism Authority of Thailand in organising the 2015 festival.

Just to the north of Hua Hin, Cha-am is a more traditional seaside town popular with Thai domestic tourists and growing numbers of international holidaymakers. 12GO ASIA is a useful source for train and bus tickets to Cha-am and Hua Hin from points both north and south on the Gulf of Thailand shoreline.
