A night out on Pattaya Walking Street

Pattaya’s Walking Street entertainment area arguably offers the best nightlife in Thailand. This street is barely two kilometres long, yet is lined with nightclubs, bars, restaurants and muay Thai boxing rings. Venues such as Club Insomnia, Lucifer Disko and the Marine Disco are famous among night owls.

The Alcatraz is one of quite a few venues where the entertainment is Thailand’s legendary a-go-go dancers. Outside the Airport Club, hostesses dressed in stewardesses’ uniforms try to entice punters inside. Simon Beer Bar Complex features a collection of small pubs which are great for a couple of drinks before heading off to one of the clubs.

During the day, Walking Street is fairly nondescript and does not really come alive until the sun starts to set. The entertainment on the street continues until the small hours and the occasional bar or club stays open until 04:00. Walking Street is at the south end of Pattaya Beach Road.

People staying at hotels in Pattaya can catch songthaew shared taxis to Walking Street. The fare is just THB10. From Bangkok, on a good day and in light traffic, buses from Ekkamai or Morchit station only take 90 minutes. Tickets for this trip are most convenient when bought online from 12GO ASIA.
