Thailand hammered by Liverpool in Bangkok football friendly

Thailand’s all-star football team lost 4-0 to visiting English Premier League side Liverpool FC yesterday evening. In the friendly match played at Bangkok’s Rajamanagala National Stadium, Liverpool scored two goals in the first half and a second brace after half-time.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers played five out of the six new players the club signed over the summer in addition to totally changing the team at half-time. Goals in the first half were scored by Lazar Markovic and Mamadou Sakho. Adam Lallana and Divock Origi found the back of the net in the second half.

The first half was played in 30°C heat and conditions in the second half were exacerbated by heavy monsoon rains. The rain started at half-time and caused many of the 50,000 spectators at the stadium to run for shelter.

The game in Bangkok was the first in Liverpool’s pre 2015-2016 season tour and the sixth time the club had played in Thailand. The squad is off to Australia this week and has matches scheduled in Brisbane on Friday and Adelaide on Monday.
