Theerapong Rodprasert is the department’s director-general and he says commuters have made numerous complaints about bus drivers driving through traffic lights on red, stopping before they reach their route terminuses and swearing. He continued by saying any proven professional misconduct would now be heavily penalised.
Mr Rodprasert noted that any driver found to have risked the lives of bus passengers would immediately be disqualified from driving. He added that this would apply even for first offences.
He finished off by saying that lesser offences would require drivers to undergo training on transport safety. These drivers will also be monitored by DLT inspectors once they are back behind the wheel to ensure they do not re-offend.

Thailand’s Transport Bureau has warned errant bus drivers they face losing their licences to drive public service vehicles. The Department of Land Transport (DLT) says a surge in complaints by the travelling public has prompted the crackdown.
