Hanoi Airport schedules classical music performances

The director of Hanoi’s Noi Bai International Airport has announced that the facility will hold classical music performances twice a week. Talking to local reporters, Vu The Phiet said the concert series is scheduled to begin 20 May and the lobby area of the brand-new Terminal 2 is likely to be the venue.

The director explained that the performances will feature traditional Vietnamese artistes on Wednesdays and an international classical music repertoire on Saturdays. The evening performances are slated to last two hours which will enable travellers to take in at least some of the recitals.

The musical performances are being arranged by the local branches of the Vietnamese Airport Authority and the Youth Union. The programme has been given the auspicious title of Air Music. Vu The Phiet also noted that a couple of the larger restaurants at Noi Bai had scheduled live music in efforts to woo punters through their doors.

Terminal 2 handled its first passenger flight last Christmas Day and officially opened on 4 January. It is a dedicated international terminal and the first point of entry for travellers arriving in North Vietnam from overseas.
