The route was cut from the timetable in May 2014 and was a casualty of an AUD2 billion restructuring programme the airline underwent to reduce operational costs. Before the restructuring, Quantas utilised Airbus A330 aircraft configured with 297 seats to serve the route.
When the route relaunches, Quantas will use 168-seat Boeing 737s on it. A spokesperson for Qantas said the airline was going through difficult times in the early months of last year and was forced into making some realistic decisions to cut expenditure. These measures included cutting the Perth-Singapore route.
The representative continued by saying international markets had strengthened and passenger demand had also increased. He finished off by saying Quantas was now in a better position to satisfy that demand and had the resources to deploy the right aircraft for each route it flew.

Quantas Airways is all set to restart a route linking Perth and Singapore in six weeks time. The Australian flag-carrier will offer five round-trip services per week between its west-coast hub and the Southeast Asian city-state with effect from 26 June 2015.
